Space Oddity

SPACE ODDITY
 - BY DAVID BOWIE -
ground control to major thom
ground control to major thom
take your protein pills
and put your helmet on
ground control to major thom
commencing countdown
engines on
check ignition
and may god’s love be with you
ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one
liftoff
this is ground control
to major thom
you’ve really made the grade
and the papers want to know who shirts you wear
now its time to leave the capsule
if you dare
this is major thom to ground control
i’m stepping through the door
and i’m floating
in a most peculiar way
and the stars look very different today
for here
i am sitting in a tin can
far above the world
PLANET EARTH IS BLUE
And there’s nothing i can do
though im past
100,000 miles
I’m feeling very still
and i think my space ship knows which way to go
tell my wife i love her very much
she knows
ground control to major thom
your circuit’s dead
there’s something wrong
can you hear me, major thom?
can you hear me, major thom?
can you hear me, major thom?
can you…
here I am floating
round my tin can
far above the moon
planet earth is blue
and there’s nothing I can do

In My Life

In My Life
    - The Beatles -

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can
                                      recall

Some are dead and some are
living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
All these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something
                                     new
Though I know I’ll never lose
                                      affection
For people and things that went
  before
I know I’ll stop and think about
   them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before

I know I’ll often stop and
         think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

{I love this song; it moves me to tears in fact, as it conveys how I feel about those who have been in my life, are still in my life - and who have made such profound impact upon me….Let this serve as a dedication for those I love in my life….}

Morton’s For A Fabulous Birthday Dinner!

This year for my dad’s 72nd birthday, the restauraunt of choice was Morton’s, located at the K Street Mall, downtown Sacramento.

The interior of Morton’s is decidedly rich and elegent, decorated in luxurious cherry wood furniture and warm earth tones. A quiet ambience and only a few other customers besides ourselves, we were in dining splendor.

Our gracious waitress, Sarah, was in top form as she presented the fabulous menu. “I like a girl in a bow tie, ” I told her. “Only a few of us can pull off androgyny!”

Mike (my partner), myself and my dad sat in anticipation of great food for the special birthday occasion. We ordered Italian water - cost: $17.00 for two bottles!

Along with a wide array of menu specialties, Sarah introduced us to one of the house headliners, a giant lobster named (appropriately), “Dinner.”

Take a look at this juicy porterhouse! Now, that’s a birthday dinner worthy of a king…

My filet mignon and shrimp alexander was heavenly delicious! One of the most delicious dinners I’ve had in quite awhile…If you are in the mood for fine dining for a special occasion and you have an extra couple hundred dollars, Morton’s is the place.

On The Beach At Night Alone

On The Beach At Night Alone
            - By Walt Witman - (1819 - 1892)

On the beach at night alone,
As the old mother sways her to and fro singing her husky song,
As I watch the bright stars shining, I think a thought of the clef of the
universes and of the future.

A vast similtude interlocks all,
All spheres, grown, ungrown, small, large, suns, moons, planets,
All distances of places however wide,
All distances of time, all inanimate forms,
All souls, all living bodies though they be ever so different, or in different worlds,
All gaseous, watery, vegatable, mineral processes, the fishes, the brutes,
All nations, colors, barbarisms, civilizations, languages,
All identities that have existed or may exist on this globe, or any globe,
All lives and deaths, all of the past, present, future,
The vast similtude spans them, and always have spann’d,
And shall forever span them and compactly hold and enclose them.
